This 10-year (base + 9) service contract is for the preventative maintenance of all backflow preventers and related equipment at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, CT. The maintenance includes the testing, certification, repair, removal and replacement of various freshwater distribution systems including; backflow preventers, water main valves, hydrants, piping, and incidental related work. This is a combination firm-fixed price (FFP) and Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The monthly FFP work consists of identification and regular maintenance of over 300 backflow preventer devices on the facility. The IDIQ work consists of either repairs outside the existing scope or emergency service calls. The IDIQ task orders are generated using the contract’s pre-priced line items for labor, materials and equipment commonly used in this trade.
